Recognized for Our Work in Prairie Dog Conservation
One of our first major initiatives has been our involvement in prairie dog conservation, an issue that continues to generate public discussion across Colorado. Prairie dogs are a keystone species, meaning their presence directly supports many other animals, from burrowing owls to foxes and even the plant life that thrives in their aerated soil.
Recently, our organization and board member Jamie Fraina were recognized in a Westword article for our involvement in efforts to save a prairie dog colony in Longmont. The situation highlights the challenges these animals face as urban development continues to encroach on their habitats.
